Custom Laser Engravings

Setting the Standard for Laser Marking Applications

Our programmable, four-axis CNC ytterbium fiber laser engraver has marking depths from .01mm to .50mm (.0004” to .020”), with a resolution of one micron. It can etch into a diverse set of materials including ceramics, metals, and even wood, and runs on software that accepts most image file formats. This is a technology that can print high-resolution images on practically any material quickly and efficiently. Sufficiently thin materials can be machined. As you might imagine, the applications of such a laser are extremely diverse.

Many machine shops implementing a quality management system add traceability to their metal parts by engraving those parts with a unique identification number. Laser engraving does this quickly with no tool pressure, and leaves a permanent mark. Graphics such as serial numbers, QR codes, and parts specification line items may be added to parts with flat or cylindrical surfaces.

Due to the possible depth of engraving, a fiber laser can also create textured surfaces. Add a knurled finish to your part to create a grippable surface.

In supplying EDM electrodes, guides, and chucks to aerospace and biomedical engineering companies, we find that many of our customers have traceability requirements when it comes to their suppliers. For those looking to purchase EDM supplies, we offer laser engraving of our EDM supplies for quality control purposes.

  • Three standard ceramic bullet guides with various diameters.
  • Two 9 millimeter diameter, silicon nitride, customized guides with flanged collars and hypodermic extensions.
  • Three standard ceramic bullet guides, one ruby guide, and two customized silicon nitride guides with hypodermic extensions.
  • A rear view of three standard ceramic bullet guides, one ruby guide, and two customized silicon nitride guides with hypodermic extensions.

Capabilitites

  • Capacity of 179mm by 179mm (7” by 7”) and a z-height of three feet.
  • Can engrave all metals, such as steel, aluminum, and cobalt, with anodized finish or painted surface.
  • Micro-machining and quick prototyping of thin metal parts.
  • Four-axis movement combining x, y, and z axes with a rotary table allow for complete spatial freedom in engraving.
  • Customized tooling and consultation for engraving parts with unique and complex geometries.

Quality Products Guaranteed

As an EDM supplier, we have always known how important quality is to retaining old customers and attracting new customers, and crucial to ensuring quality is the ability to identify an error, trace it back to the source, and correct for it. With laser engraved, uniquely identified parts, a company can minimize the impact of manufacturing errors, and make sure they don’t happen again. For industries with a very small acceptable margin for error, such as aerospace, medical, and energy, our laser engraving service is a powerful complement to a quality management system.
